BEAUTY

This project was designed around the oldest known variant of "Beauty and The Beast" written by female author Madame Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve in 1740, this version is influenced by folklore yet is an original story created by women who gathered together and told each other revisions of fairy tales in Parisian salons. Though written simply, the characters have distinct personalities and are much more complex in their emotions than a normal folkloric tale, behaving in a diverse and fairly realistic manner to their situations. Women are also overwhelmingly the masters of the plot and outnumber the men in number and priority. The story contains considerable world-building and depicts Fairy language, Fairy law, Fairy influence over monarchies, Fairy hierarchy, and Fairy magic.
